Glamping Pods With Hot Tub

Glamping with hot tubs in Scotland

Scotland is where a hot tub earns its keep. Light until late in June, properly cold in January. On 4 October 2026, holidaycottages.co.uk listed 27 glamping stays with a hot tub here and Sykes listed 13 huts, pods and yurts.

Where to base yourself

Perthshire is the easiest Highland scenery to reach from Edinburgh or Glasgow. Big trees, long lochs such as Loch Tay, and plenty of lodges and pods along the shores.

The Cairngorms is the largest national park in the UK and the coldest place to sit in a tub. That’s the point. Aviemore is the usual base.

Loch Lomond and The Trossachs is the closest national park to Glasgow, which makes it the busiest. Go midweek if you can.

Dumfries and Galloway and the Borders prove you don’t have to drive to the Highlands. Rolling hills, empty roads and some very dark skies. Argyll and the west coast have the sea lochs and the sunsets, with one catch, which we’ll come to.

The midge question

VisitScotland says midge season typically runs from May to October and peaks in the middle of summer. They’re found mostly in the west Highlands, the islands and damp rural areas, and they’re worst early in the morning and in the evening on calm, overcast days.

Evening on a calm day is exactly when you want to be in the tub. So if you’re booking the west coast for July or August, check the midge forecast, pick somewhere that catches a breeze, or go in April or late autumn instead. The east and the south get an easier time of it.

Stars from the tub

Galloway Forest Park became the UK’s first Dark Sky Park in 2009. Tomintoul and Glenlivet, inside the Cairngorms National Park, followed in 2018. Winter is the season for it here. The nights are long, the air is clear and the water is hot.

Getting there

Distances are bigger than they look. A pod in the Highlands can be several hours beyond Glasgow or Edinburgh, and parts of the journey may be on single track roads with passing places. Fill up before you leave the main roads and arrive in daylight if the tub is wood fired.

Good to know

Hoseasons separates private hot tubs from shared ones, and it had 34 glamping stays with a private tub in Scotland when we looked. For what the rules say about wood fired tubs, including a Scottish council’s advice on water temperature, see our wood fired hot tub guide.
